Selecting A Child Care Facility:

Selecting the right childcare provider can sometimes seem like an impossible task. However, with patience and a little planning, it is quite easy to find the best provider to fill your individual child's needs.

Your main goal: to find a warm, nurturing and safe environment where your child can thrive. Time invested in the search for a great caregiver is well worth the effort as it will ensure your child's happiness and well-being.

1.  Start early (4 or 5 months in advance)and decide upon what type of service you require. Choose between a Day-home, Nanny, Pre-School, Babysitter, or Day-Care facility and then decide WHERE you need it to be located. Click on our list to find the providers nearest to your home, or your work, or wherever it will be most convenient.

2.  Start phoning these providers to ask for additional information as well as confirmation of the services that they provide. Ask specific questions about admission conditions, number and age of children, training and experience of staff members, schedules and, of course, costs involved. Make an appointment so that you can see first-hand what the environment will be like.

3.  Always meet with your potential child care providers. Pay special attention and evaluate the environment, health and safety (cleanliness), child/provider interactions, activities, meals, and if the providers can accommodate any special needs that you or your child may have.

4.  Do some final checking: Ask for references, do a quick background check and then trust your instincts. Do not hesitate to look for someone else if you do not feel comfortable with a provider or if there is just something that seems wrong.
